NON-FOOD OBSERVATORY FRICTIONLESS NON-FOOD: AI AS A COMPASS BETWEEN OVERLOAD AND SIMPLICITY

(Simultaneous translation available)

Organized by GS1 Italy in collaboration with Marca by BolognaFiere & ADM

Gallery Hall 21-22

The Non-Food Observatory addresses highly diverse sectors, with volume trends varying according to the reference industry; however, some dynamics cut across sectors and reflect common trends. One such trend is the growing demand among non-food consumers for frictionless, convenient and memorable experiences. The availability of “everything, immediately,” both online and offline, does not always align with simplicity and accessibility. At times, an excess of offerings can confuse consumers, and information overload leads to greater effort in interpretation and decision-making. In this context, can AI offer a key to simplification? Perhaps yes—but it depends on the level of knowledge and application. We will explore what consumers think about AI and how they use it during the purchasing phases of non-food products.

Speaker: Samanta Correale (Senior Business Intelligence Manager, GS1 Italy)

EUDR AND DIGITAL PRODUCT PASSPORT: GS1’S RESPONSE TO THE CHALLENGES OF SUSTAINABILITY

Achieving European sustainability and digitalization goals also means responding to the many regulations that require structured data sharing among companies throughout the entire supply chain.

The workshop “EUDR and Digital Product Passport: GS1’s response to the challenges of sustainability” will provide an opportunity to explore in depth:

  • The Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), which aims to ensure that goods placed on the EU market are not linked to deforestation or forest degradation;
  • The Digital Product Passport (DPP), introduced under the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), which defines new requirements for more sustainable, transparent and circular products.

Concrete tools based on GS1 international standards will be presented: solutions already available that enable companies to meet regulatory requirements, facilitate traceability, promote supply chain transparency and simplify the communication of information required by regulations.

Speakers
Micol Vialetto (Standard Specialist, GS1 Italy)
Tommaso Alabardi (Public Policy Manager, GS1 Italy)

PROCEDO CLIENT: THE DIGITAL ECOSYSTEM THAT ACCELERATES EXCHANGES IN THE FMCG SUPPLY CHAIN

This presentation will focus on Procedo Client, the new digital platform by GS1 Italy Servizi that enables retail companies to automate and standardize document flows with their network of suppliers. The session will illustrate the benefits for retailers: from easy setup of data flows and supplier onboarding, to testing and continuous monitoring of documents sent and received.
An end-to-end approach that reduces complexity and costs, transforming the digitalization of EDI flows into a strategic lever for a more efficient, integrated and collaborative supply chain.

Speaker
Mirko Repetto (Sales & Business Development Manager, GS1 Italy Servizi)

4:20 – 5:00 PM

THE POWER OF PRIVATE LABELS: TOOLS AND SKILLS FOR WINNING CATEGORY MANAGEMENT

The evolution of Category Management and Private Labels reflects the transformation of large-scale retail: from commercial intermediary to value creator for customers and the production ecosystem. In this scenario, Private Labels and Category Management are not two parallel worlds, but two sides of the same coin: both were created to better interpret the market and today—also thanks to GS1 standards and tools—have become integrated levers of competitiveness and innovation.

The presentation by the GS1 Italy Academy will illustrate how Private Labels must be fully integrated and managed within the eight phases of Category Management. It will highlight how this approach requires organizational evolution and the development of new skills. The key role of integrating GS1 standard tools—particularly GS1 Digital Link and Immagino Mex—will also be analyzed, showing how they can practically map and support the category management process for integrated brand management.
The session will conclude by illustrating how a combined vision of Category Management and Private Labels is essential to capture market trends, meet customer needs and build a competitive and coherent offering.

Speakers
Antonella Altavilla (ADF Sas Consulting, GS1 Italy Academy Consultant)
Ermanno Bertelle (Training Manager, GS1 Italy Academy)
