The solidarity of Marca by BolognaFiere

The solidarity of Marca by BolognaFiere

Since January 2024, Marca by BolognaFiere has given space to themes and instances related to solidarity, focusing on community needs and requirements and orienting its actions and those of exhibitors toward sustainable development goals.

Gender Equality: Collaboration with CEFA continues

With the aim of promoting sustainable development, the three-year partnership launched in January 2024 between Marca by BolognaFiere and CEFA - The Seed of Solidarity continues. This partnership fits within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN Agenda 2030.

Also for the 2026 edition, Marca by BolognaFiere and CEFA have selected a Goal of the 2030 Agenda, making it a sustainability project and inviting exhibitors to participate in a fundraiser in favor of this initiative, which, as a CSR - Corporate Social Responsibility action, can be included in corporate sustainability reporting.

A project focused on Mozambique

Traced back to the theme of Gender Equality-Goal 5 of the UN Agenda, the CEFA project chosen for 2025 will focus on Mozambique, one of the poorest countries on the African continent, with the aim of implementing integrated development programs with a supply chain approach. Mozambique, in fact, is facing a severe food crisis, recently exacerbated by cyclones that hit 40 percent of the country, with some 2.8 million people affected by acute food insecurity between April and September 2024. The situation is likely to worsen further in the coming months, with estimates of 3.3 million people in need of assistance by March 2025. The expected worsening is attributable to depletion of food supplies, conflict in Mozambique's northern provinces, and the climatic effects of La Niña, which could affect the country's southern and central regions.

CEFA in Mozambique

CEFA has been working for years to combat hunger and poverty in the countries of Southeast Africa, particularly in Mozambique, by implementing integrated development programs with a supply chain approach.

The Intervention

The project aims to reduce aims to promote the reduction of food insecurity levels in the Beira and Dondo districts through an integrated approach that combines training, practical support and awareness raising. At the center of the initiative are the women of the “Model Mothers” groups, who are the protagonists of change. With their acquired agroecological skills, these women will be able to improve their families' food self-sufficiency and promote sustainable agricultural practices. The 35 “Model Moms” will be trained in the use of agroecological techniques to promote soil fertility, increased biodiversity, adaptation to climate change, and independence from imported products such as pesticides and chemical synthetic fertilizers.

Main activities

  • 10 training meetings on agroecological practices and food safety;
  • Distribution of seed kits (legumes, vegetables, cereals, minor crops, plants, etc.);
  • Provision of agricultural tool kits (hoes, shovels, scythes, watering cans, etc.);
  • Establishment of family gardens to ensure a stable source of nutritious food.

Beneficiaries

The project directly involves 175 people from “Model Moms” households, indirectly impacting the entire target community.

Economic and social autonomy of women

“Model Moms” become reference figures and community leaders, acquiring a role of recognition and decision-making power. Through collective activities such as itinerant training and work on vegetable gardens, mutual aid and bonds among women are strengthened, promoting solidarity and mutual support. Together, we build more resilient and sustainable communities, improving family well-being and the balance of the local ecosystem.

Through a €500 donation you contribute to:
